Cheap Genshin Impact Account - Crunchyroll was now part of its Funimation Global Group company

Sony announced in December 2020 that it was planning to acquire Crunchyroll for $1.175 billion.

This acquisition was officially completed earlier this week, with Sony announcing in a press statement that Crunchyroll was now part of its Funimation Global Group company.

We've been saying for a while now that Sony needs to think about revamping its PlayStation Plus subscription service. Currently, subscribers get a handful of 'free' PS5 and PS4 games every month, supplemented by exclusive PlayStation Store discounts and, sometimes, other Sony-based benefits. Playing (most) multiplayer PlayStation games online also requires a PS Plus subscription.

Speaking within Sony’s press release on the acquisition, Tony Vinciquerra – Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertianment Inc – mentions that Sony’s “goal is to create a unified anime subscription experience as soon as possible”, and plan to make Crunchyroll available “across any platform…from theatrical, events, home entertainment, games, streaming, linear TV – everywhere”.

Sony currently offers a bundle of 20 PS4 titles for PS Plus subscribers on PS5 called the PS Plus Collection. A new service called PS Plus Video Pass was leaked earlier this year too, which will reportedly let users access SPE films like Venom and Zombieland: Double Tap.

Crunchyroll is an anime streaming service which was originally founded in 2006 by a group of university graduates.The service offers over 1000 anime shows, and hasover 120 million registered users across more than 200 countries.While it offers free ad-supported streams of some content, it also has a paid streaming service which currently boasts 5 million subscribers.

As it stands, PlayStation Plus offers users the ability to play games online, as well as a selection of PS4 games available to download, which changes every month. Currently, the free games for August include Plants vs Zombies: Battle For Neighborville and more.

A potential premium bundle that includes all the PS Plus subscriber benefits, the PS Plus Collection, PS Plus Video Pass, a combined anime streaming library from Crunchyroll and Funimation, and maybe even Sony’s PS Now game’s streaming service could provide Sony with the Game Pass model that fans have been asking for.
